five (really) good things...right now

reflection at mickeys house

self-portrait at mickey's house, january 08

(i stopped by geek inc and felt inspired to share five reasons why i am smiling in this moment...right now...)

1. hearing joy in my brother's voice as we talked from one end of this coast to the other today (and more importantly, hearing him feel proud of himself)
2. hearing happiness in my mother's voice as we talked across the many miles
3. hearing my dad's voice after his surgery today...knowing he is okay even though he is so far away
4. hearing my friend's voice when i left her a voicemail...i knew she wouldn't be home, but it always feels a bit like talking to her after i hear her voice and then proceed to go on and on because i want to share something very specific
5. hearing my own laughter...oh it feels good to fill the house with laughter

i would love to hear your five good things today...
share them, won't you?

today has been grey and miserable here and while i hate to admit it, it got the better of me.
i'm SO thankful for this beautiful reminder to get me back on track...

5 really good things...right now::

1. you. you. you. and all your loveliness. your beautiful smile, your amazing talent, your sweet words, your gentle and timely reminders to be present, be here.
2. a mug of peppermint tea.
3. tulips in a vase...in bloom...right in front of me.
4. a quiet house...with two sleeping angels.
5. curled up on the couch...in my comfies...visiting lovelies in blogland.

have a wonderful evening, my friend.
love and hugs. xo

: ) okay, here goes...
1. my nose and sinuses are draining finally... thank you to Rosa who steered me in the direction of what would work.
2. I found the perfect book to support the art project for my kindergarten class tomorrow
3. I have been promised that the weather will get warmer tomorrow.
4. Super Tuesday is over
5 Blackberry tea with a packet of Emergenc-C and a teaspoon of honey.

1. the sun has been shining here for 3 whole days, and that just changes everything.
2. the yarn came today and so I can start the ladybug sweater for my niece's first birthday
3. I left work today before it was dark
4. a cup of yogi chai redbush tea after lunch
5. a movie and knitting awaiting me tonight

I think sometimes it is such the little things that make a happy day, almost more than the very big things...

1. After 11 hours of phone calls, finding my dad and step mom who were evacuated from their house last night due to a tornado. Knowing they are safe and together and in a motel with heat and electricity.

With a 1. like that, I don't need a 2. 3. 4. 5.

The placement of those mirrors struck me, too. I guess I think of you and Mickey Mouse images aren't far behind, seeing as how you love your Disney. Glad to hear that you've connected with loved ones.

It's been a miserable few weeks so thanks for making me try to be positive.

1. Eating freshly made dumplings to kick off the Chinese New Year.
2. Wearing a cozy new sweater I bought for myself - I love its wrap tie and its hood.
3. Finishing my grading - I hate it when it piles up.
4. Not getting a flat tire and successfully navigating the many potholes on the road this morning.
5. Rubbing our dog Akira's belly and looking into his brown eyes - pets always make everything feel better.
