Today I went to the shore to breathe in deeply and recharge.
Each breath was cleansing and calming and knowing.
I walked from one end to the other and just as I was about to leave
I noticed this…
this little community
clinging together
tight.
and I longed for a sense of community
to hold me tight
through thick and thin.

an invitation: share a photo that captures a sense of community.
What does community mean to you? Consider sharing a photo + a few words on your blog or flickr that capture community. And then, I would love it if you would come back here and tell me all about it. Let’s create our own little community lovefest, shall we?

Anna-Marie has been teaching artist workshops in one form or another consistently for more than 7 years.
At the end of 2009, realizing a sense of balance between teaching and her own personal artwork was vital, she launched Indigo Footprints which is an embodiment of both her personal mixed-media art and her instinctual need to inspire others to nurture their own creative souls.
On her blog, www.annamariestill.com, you'll find her sharing her own soul-speak, her artwork & bits of her everyday mama artist life. In her Etsy shop, www.annamariestill.etsy.com you'll find her artwork & art journals. you can also find her on facebook http://www.facebook.com/AnnaMarieStill and Twitter http://twitter.com/AMStill

I have a rookery of crows that frequent my yard. These noisy birds have woken me just after sunrise, interrupted my thinking throughout the day, but always set me to admiring their closeness and their dedicated watchfulness for the safety of the group. That's what community is to me-- a deep attention to the care and nurturing of all the members of that community, keeping them apprised and aware of the opportunities and possible dangers, to open their senses to the world around them. As the bird stretches its wings to catch the winds of opportunity, so must we. What new direction or force is tugging you?
